Report: Club have had ‘decisive meeting’ with Spurs star regarding transfer

Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has revealed on his YouTube channel (as relayed by Sport Witness) that Sao Paulo have had a ‘decisive meeting’ with Lucas Moura to discuss a transfer but the Brazilian club were left with the impression that the player wants to remain in Europe.

It is now clear that Moura will leave Tottenham as a free agent in the summer after the North London club chose against activating the option to extend the winger’s deal (Telegraph).

Now that Sao Paulo can snap up Moura on a free transfer at the end of the season, one would have thought that the chances of the 30-year-old returning to his boyhood club have increased.

However, that is not the case according to Nicola’s recent update, with the journalist hinting that the chances of the move now appear slim.

He explains that the Brazilian club’s hierarchy met with Moura’s representatives and were exploring ways to meet the former Paris Saint-Germain star’s salary demands.

However, it is explained that the club were left with the impression that the Tottenham man wants to remain in Europe for at least one more year.

If Moura can put his injury problems behind him, there is no reason why he cannot find a decent European club next summer, potentially even a Champions League club.

The 30-year-old has not lost his pace or his sharpness yet and he will believe that he can land one more lucrative contract before returning to Brazil.
