Report: Club have made ‘great progress’ on deal to sign Spurs defender

According to Turkish outlet Sports Digitale, Galatasaray have made ‘great progress’ in their negotiations with Tottenham over a deal to sign Japhet Tanganga.

Tanganga has not managed to build on the impressive start he made to his Spurs career after being handed his debut by Jose Mourinho in January of last year.

The 22-year-old had an injury-hit season last time out and struggled to get a run of matches under his belt.

It emerged on Thursday that Galatasaray had made a loan offer to Spurs for Tanganga.

Football.London then claimed that while Tottenham were ready to loan the defender out in order to fast forward his development, they would prefer to loan him to a British club.

However, if Sports Digitale’s latest update is to be believed, Galatasaray are close to striking a deal for the Spurs academy graduate.

The report also asserts that the Turkish giants are expected to have an option to buy Tanganga permanently.

I cannot see Tottenham allowing Tanganga to leave on a permanent deal this summer. Turkish sources are often not the most reliable and Spurs fans thus need to take this report with a pinch of salt.
