Report: Club have met with Spurs about taking player on loan for next season

According to Spanish publication Tribuna Deportiva, Valencia have met with Tottenham Hotspur to explore extending Bryan Gil’s stay at the Mestalla.

Gil made a terrific start to his loan spell at Valencia after his move from Spurs in January, quickly establishing himself as a favourite among the Los Che faithful.

However, the winger’s form has levelled off over the last month and a half, with Jose Bordalas choosing to leave him on the bench on several occasions.

Despite this, reports indicated that Valencia were keen to extend the 21-year-old’s loan spell and the player would ‘welcome’ the prospect of remaining at the club next season (Super Deporte).

Las Provincias reported earlier this month that Spurs would be in favour of extending Gil’s loan spell at the Mestalla since Antonio Conte does not consider the youngster to be part of his plans for next season.

Tribuna Deportiva have now revealed that representatives from Valencia have opened talks with Spurs regarding an extension.

However, they explain that Gil might have a new head coach at the club next season, with Bordalas’ future at the La Liga side being uncertain.

It would be in the best interest of all parties for Gil’s loan spell to be extended. The 21-year-old will be keen to play regularly leading into the World Cup and is unlikely to get much of a look in at Spurs next season.

Perhaps, Spurs would consider loaning the youngster to Valencia for the first half of the 2022/23 season and potentially think about finding him a loan move in the Premier League during the second half of the campaign.
