Report: Club have no plans to sell attacker linked with Tottenham this week

Football Insider have claimed that Leeds United have no intention of selling Dan James amidst Tottenham’s interest in the winger.

Reports over recent days have indicated that Tottenham will enter the market for an attacking player if Bryan Gil rejoins Valencia on loan (The Athletic).

It now looks like that will come to pass, with reports from Spain indicating that Gil is ‘closer than ever’ to sealing a return to the Mestalla (Mundo Deportivo 23/08/22 – via Sport Witness).

James is said to be one of the options on Spurs’ radar, with The Daily Mail being the first to report on Monday that Antonio Conte’s men could make a shock move for the Wales international.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold subsequently confirmed that the Leeds star is one of the players Spurs have discussed but the journalist added that the North London club have not taken it beyond the point of consideration.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon also stated on his Patreon page that Leeds could be tempted to sell James to Tottenham for £20m.

However, this has been contradicted by Football Insider, who now report that Jesse Marsch’s side do not plan on letting the winger leave before the transfer window shuts.

The report states that the Elland Road hierarchy have made it clear that the former Manchester United man is not for sale.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Leeds were open to selling James this close to the transfer deadline (which is unlikely given that he is a starter), I do not think the 24-year-old would be keen on the prospect of warming the bench at Tottenham ahead of the World Cup in November.
