Report: Club have not given up hope of agreeing new deal with Spurs-linked player

According to a report by CalcioMercato, Fiorentina still have not given up hope of tying down rumoured Tottenham target Nikola Milenkovic to a new contract.

After winning many admirers with his performances over the last two years, Milenkovic has again shown impressive form at the start of this season.

La Nazione (as relayed by Sport Witness) reported earlier this month that Jose Mourinho wants to bring the 23-year-old defender to Tottenham, with Manchester United also said to be showing interest in the centre-back.

The report claimed that since the defender’s current deal with Fiorentina runs out in 2022, and he was stalling on putting pen to paper on a new contract, the Serie A club may be prepared to sell him for a cut-price deal.

CalcioMercato now report that the Viola are still in talks over a new contract for Milenkovic, although a breakthrough is yet to be reached.

The report reveals that the negotiations are “complicated” and that it is difficult to see the youngster in “the purple jersey for long” if his situation is not resolved soon.
