Report: Club have not given up hope of signing Spurs star despite recent development

TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed that despite Rodrigo Bentancur’s recent injury, Juventus are still of the belief that they can persuade Tottenham to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

A few days ago, we relayed a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, which claimed that Juventus were set to abandon their hopes of signing Hojbjerg after it emerged that Bentancur would be out of action until February.

The outlet claimed that a deal for the Dane was already proving complicated for the Serie A giants but after Ange Postecoglou lost another of his midfielders to injury, it had now become next to impossible.

The same information was also backed up by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold on Thursday, with the journalist stating that Spurs are unlikely to consider offers for either Hojbjerg or Oliver Skipp, given Bentancur’s injury and the fact that Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr will be unavailable during AFCON.

Juve still have hope of signing Hojbjerg from Spurs

However, these claims have now been contradicted by TMW, who report that Hojbjerg ‘can still leave’ Tottenham despite the Uruguayan’s injury.

They say that the Bianconeri ‘continue to work’ on convincing Daniel Levy to part ways with the former Southampton man during the January transfer window.

The publication adds that Juve remain ‘attentive to developments’ but it is explained that Spurs would not entertain the idea of loaning out Hojbjerg, with only a permanent sale being on the cards.

Tottenham may consider offers for Hojbjerg if they bring another midfielder through the door in the first week or two of the January transfer window. It would make no sense for Spurs to loan the Dane out without an obligation to buy.
