Report: Club have option to sign Spurs player, but only if they achieve promotion

Football Insider have claimed that should Leeds United win promotion, they would have the option to make Joe Rodon’s loan deal permanent.

Until now, there has been no suggestion that any option to buy had been added to Rodon’s loan move to Leeds but Football Insider say that such an option does exist and could become active depending on what happens over the coming weeks.

Leeds currently sit three points behind an automatic promotion spot and should they bounce straight back to the top flight, it is said that they would hold an option to permanently sign the Wales international.

Leeds United want to sign Joe Rodon from Tottenham

The outlet claims that the Elland Road hierarchy are ‘desperate’ to sign the Spurs defender this summer and see him as a ‘massive’ addition, given how well he has done for them this campaign.

It is pointed out that Leeds might have to sell some players to fund moves for their transfer targets this summer, given their current financial predicament.

However, the publication adds that should they win promotion, Rodon will likely be at the top of Daniel Farke’s wishlist for the summer window.

If such an option to buy existed for Rodon, we would have likely heard about it already from Alasdair Gold or perhaps from one of the journalists who have reliable sources at Leeds. I think we should take this information with a pinch of salt unless it is confirmed by other outlets.
