Report: Club hoping to sign Spurs man for £16m plus £5m in add-ons

The Times have revealed that Villarreal hope to snap up Giovani Lo Celso permanently for an initial fee of £16m plus adds.

Lo Celso is one of several players that Tottenham are reportedly looking to offload this summer ahead of Antonio Conte’s first full season in charge (Express).

Villarreal are thought to be keen on signing the Argentine on a permanent deal on the back of his impressive loan spell at the club in the second half of last season (El Periodico Mediterraneo).

Football Insider reported a couple of weeks ago that the Yellow Submarine were in advanced talks with Spurs regarding a deal for Lo Celso.

Sky Italia (07/06/22 – as relayed by GIFN) even suggested recently that Spurs could use the former Real Betis man as a makeweight in the deal to sign Pau Torres from Villarreal.

If The Times’ latest update is to be believed, Unai Emery’s men hope to complete a deal for Lo Celso for a fee of £16m plus £5m in add-ons.

The publication claims that the fee falls short of Tottenham’s asking price for the former Real Betis man.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given how well Lo Celso performed during his loan spell at El Madrigal, one would expect plenty of La Liga clubs to show interest in the Tottenham man. So, I would not be surprised if Spurs hold out for a fee closer to £25m for the Argentine.
