Report: Club make mega-contract offer to Spurs-linked Italy international

Calciomercato.it have revealed that Major League Soccer side Toronto FC have made a mega offer to Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Insigne’s future at Napoli is in doubt as he is now approaching the final six months of his contract.

Spurs were linked with a move for the experienced wide-man during the summer transfer window and the speculation linking the club with the 31-year-old has once again emerged since Antonio Conte’s arrival in North London.

Italian journalist Fabio Santini claimed a few days ago that Conte is ‘crazy’ about the Napoli star, who the 52-year-old worked with during his time in charge of the Azzuri.

Calciomercato.it have now revealed that Spurs could now face competition for Insigne from North America.

The report claims that Toronto FC have offered the experienced wide man a three-year contract worth $20m-per-season (£15.1m).

It is explained that the offer ‘cannot be matched’ by Napoli or the other European clubs who have shown interest in Insigne.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not convinced that Insigne is actually a target for Spurs. I believe the speculation could be fed by his representatives to force Napoli’s hand in the contract negotiations. Paratici and Conte will likely be looking at players of a younger profile.
