Report: Club make ‘ultimate attempt’ to keep manager away from likes of Spurs

1908.nl have claimed that Feyenoord are now ready to offer Arne Slot a ‘substantial salary increase’ in an effort to ward off interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur.

Feyenoord are on the verge of being crowned Eredivisie champions, which would be quite an achievement considering the advantage that Ajax or PSV Eindhoven have over the Rotterdam club in terms of resources.

The fact that the Dutch side have built a near unassailable lead at the top of the table while playing eye-catching, attacking football, has done wonders to Slot’s stock, with reports continuing to indicate that he is a ‘serious candidate’ for the Tottenham job (ESPN).

1908.nl have now said that Spurs hold a ‘dormant interest’ in the Dutchman but Feyenoord are now acting to keep their manager at the club.

The report describes the club’s contract offer as an ‘ultimate attempt’ to keep him at De Kuip for one more season.

The publication then goes on to quote the club’s general director Dennis te Kloese as saying: “We want to do everything we can to keep Arne Slot longer at Feyenoord.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is starting to look like Slot might be the man that Tottenham turn to if Julian Nagelsmann proves out of their reach, particularly now that Vincent Kompany has signed a contract extension with Burnley.

I expect the 44-year-old to wait and see what options open up for him this summer rather than committing his future to Feyenoord immediately.
