Report: Club may be forced to sell Copa America star wanted by Spurs

Correio da Manha have claimed that Porto might be forced to cash in on rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Luis Diaz due to their financial pressures.

While Diaz had an impressive campaign for Porto last season, registering 11 goals and six assists in all competitions, it was his performances in the Copa America that shot the winger into the limelight.

The 25-year-old scored four goals in five matches for Colombia, who had to settle for a third-place finish after losing to eventual champions Argentina on penalties in the semi-final.

Tottenham were credited with an interest in the Colombian international last week but reports emerged that Porto were calm about this since the player had a huge release clause of €80m (£68.3m) in his contract.

However, Correio da Manha have now suggested that the Primeira Liga giants may have little choice but to sell Diaz this summer.

While the report names Spurs as one of the clubs vying for the winger, it is suggested that the Lilywhites could face competition from the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan and Roma for the Porto man.

Spurs Web Opinion

It will be really interesting what we do regarding the wide areas this summer. Bale seems unlikely to return while I would also expect at least one of Berwijn or Lamela to be sold if they attract suitable bids. Unless Nuno throws a surprise by promoting Dane Scarlett to the first team, we will likely be in the market for at least one wide-forward.
