Report: Club may consider terminating Spurs player’s loan early in January

According to Turkish outlet Star, Tanguy Ndombele’s loan spell at Galatasaray might come to a premature end in January.

Ndombele signed for Galatasaray on loan in the summer, with the Turkish club having the option to make the deal permanent for €15m (£12.8m) but so far this season, the Frenchman has made just one start for the Istanbul side.

Manager Okan Buruk admitted a couple of weeks ago that the midfielder is ‘not in the best shape’ and is still working his way up to full fitness (Yenicag Gazetesi via  Sport Witness).

It was reported by Football.London recently that the 26-year-old came in for criticism from Galatasaray fans for failing to track back after giving the ball away in the club’s 3-1 loss at home to Bayern Munich last week.

Ndombele loan spell could soon come to an end

Star have now claimed that Galatasaray are ‘very disappointed’ with Ndombele, who has been ‘far below expectations’ since his arrival.

It is suggested that judging by the current state of affairs, the club are not likely to consider exercising the option to buy the midfielder.

In fact, the report alleges that Galatasaray are concerned about Ndombele’s fitness issues and could even consider terminating his loan spell in January.

During his loan spells at Lyon and Napoli, Ndombele, at least, made promising stars before eventually tailing off. At Galatasaray, it seems like the midfielder has fallen well short of the required standard right from day one.

If the Turkish club do terminate the loan deal in January, I expect Spurs to do what is necessary to move on the 26-year-old permanently, even if it means terminating his contract.
