Report: Club may look to sell Spurs target for around £4.3m next summer

Antalyaspor coach, Ersun Yanal, may want to sell Paul Mukairu for around £4.3 million next summer with Tottenham Hotspur having previously been linked with the player, Score Nigeria have claimed.

The 21-year-old was on loan at Anderlecht last season and managed four goals and four assists in all competitions.

The Mirror reported earlier this year (21/02, page 67) that Spurs were confident of sealing a deal for the Nigerian.

According to Ajansspor, Mukairu is going to return to parent club Antalyaspor to play a key role under coach Ersun Yanal next season in the Super Lig.

Anderlecht wanted to sign the winger on a permanent basis after he caught the eye on loan but their financial problems rendered the deal impossible.

Score Nigeria have revealed that a source has told them that Antalyaspor coach Ersun Yanal wanted to bring Mukairu back to the club as he thinks he could work on him and make him worth around €5m within one season.

The source said: “He was one of the reasons turned down the Anderlecht offer of 1.7 Million Euros because he told the club he will work on the player and sell him for five Million Euros within a season.”

Mukairu isn’t a signing that would make Spurs fans jump off their seats but is a deal that makes sense given the small price tag he could be available for. He’s a very raw talent that, if nurtured right, could prove this deal to be a bargain in years to come.
