Report: Club may now be prepared to sell rumoured Spurs target this summer

Sport have revealed that Tottenham target Franck Kessie is one of the players who is expected to leave Barcelona in the summer as the Catalan club need to raise money.

Kessie was one of several midfielders who Spurs were credited with an interest in during the January transfer window (TMW) along with others like Weston McKennie (TuttoJuve), who ended up joining Leeds United on loan.

Pape Matar Sarr’s rise may have prevented the Lilywhites from pursuing reinforcements in midfield last month but Sport have now revealed that Antonio Conte’s men did explore a move for Kessie.

The report states that Spurs and AC Milan are the clubs ‘most interested’ in the Ivorian, with both clubs ‘probing’ a deal for the player. The publication adds that Kessie never entertained the idea leaving Camp Nou nor did Xavi Hernandez consider offloading him in January.

However, Sport state that the former Milan star ‘is one of the names on the exit ramp’ for the summer as the La Liga giants need to raise funds and the midfielder is a sellable asset, given the interest that he garners, particularly from Italy.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham probing a deal for Kessie last month might be down to the fact that the North London club felt that he was one of the few good midfielders who could be on the market.

There is no guarantee that Spurs will go back in for the Ivorian in the summer as other options, who rank higher on Paratici’s and Conte’s wishlist, could become available.
