Football Insider have claimed that Feyenoord are reluctant to sell Santiago Gimenez to Tottenham as they anticipate a better proposal from Tottenham next summer.
While Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Gimenez by quite a few publications over the last couple of months (Mirror), it has been suggested by various sources over the last few weeks that Feyenoord do not wish to lose their star striker mid-season (David Ornstein – BBC Transfer Gossip Daily Podcast).
It was Football Insider who first reported last week that West Ham were considering a shock move for the Mexican international as David Moyes is intent on adding a number nine to his squad before the transfer window shuts.

Feyenoord anticipate Spurs and Arsenal interest in Gimenez
The same publication have now offered an update on the Hammers’ pursuit of Gimenez, stating that the club are ready to sell Nayef Aguerd, Danny Ings and Said Benrahma to raise funds to sign the 22-year-old.
It is alleged that an offer of around £30m to £40m might be enough to take the centre-forward from De Kuip to the London Stadium.
However, Football Insider add that the Rotterdam club are reluctant to sell Gimenez to West Ham as they think ‘a better deal could be presented’ for the player by the likes of Spurs and Arsenal next summer.

It is quite possible that the likes of Tottenham could have reached out to Gimenez and his entourage to potentially make them aware of a possible move next summer. I expect the striker to turn down a switch to West Ham as he would anticipate bigger clubs to come calling next summer.
