Report: Club may wait until final weeks of window to pursue loan for Spurs player

Real Sociedad will likely have to wait until the last few weeks of the transfer window to push for Bryan Gil as the winger is involved in Tottenham’s pre-season preparations, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The report states the 21-year-old’s place with the Spurs squad ahead of the new campaign could force Los Txuri-Urdin to delay their pursuit until later in the window, while any deal would only see him leave on loan.

Sociedad are said to be the frontrunners to sign Gil (Golsmedia), who left Spurs to join Valencia for six months in the second half of last season after struggling to adapt to life in England.

Joining the club from Sevilla last year, he was included in Antonio Conte’s plans for the tour of South Korea, with the Italian offering the Spain international a chance to impress (Evening Standard).

Gil played the first 45 minutes of the club’s friendly against Team K League on Wednesday and exchanged passes with Eric Dier for the opener in a back and forth 6-3 win in Seoul.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gil has had a tough stint with Spurs so far but he is a talented player that needs time to bed in properly so we can see what he is really about.

A loan move would be good so he can get some regular game time, but one to Spain again may not necessarily be the best option given he still needs to adapt to English football.
