Report: Club now considering terminating alleged Spurs target’s contract

According to AS and Mundo Deportivo (as relayed by The Sun) Barcelona are considering terminating the contract of rumoured Tottenham target Ousmane Dembele.

Dembele is into the final six months of his contract at the Camp Nou and Barca have not been able to reach an agreement with the winger over a new deal (Express).

According to The Athletic, Tottenham did enquire about the Frenchman at the start of the January transfer window but the North London club are thought to have rejected the chance to sign the winger on deadline day when Barca offered them the chance to do so.

This was because Spurs allegedly did not want to sign a big name in a position where they were already well stacked.

Mundo Deportivo have now suggested that Dembele could soon be available on a free transfer, with the Catalan giants considering terminating his contract.

Barca are said to be thinking about getting the winger’s £210,000-a-week salary off their books immediately after failing to offload him last month.

The report reveals that the La Liga club’s chiefs will meet this week to make a final decision on the former Borussia Dortmund man’s future.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not expect Spurs to make an offer to Dembele even if he becomes a free agent over the coming weeks. I do not see the Frenchman as being a good fit for Conte’s set-up, particularly given how demanding the Italian is of his forwards out of possession.
