Report: Club pull out of race for left-back linked with Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of signing Olympiacos” Kostas Tsimikas could have just received a boost after Porto who were reported to be serious contenders for his signature are said to have pulled out of the race for the defender.

The 23-year-old left-back has been a consistent performer for Olympiacos for a couple of seasons with his displays in both the Champions League and Europa League this season having said to have made clubs sit up and take an interest.

The defender, who is known for his ability to deliver dangerous balls into the box, has notched up six assists this season in all competitions (transfermarkt).

Apart from being on the radar of Spurs, SDNA also reported last week that the likes of Arsenal, Leicester, Liverpool, Napoli and Inter were all tracking the young defender.

Daily Express journalist Konstantinos Lianos had claimed that Porto were one of the contenders to sign the full-back this summer.

However, Sportdog report that the Portuguese giants have pulled out of the race as they find Olympiacos’ £22million asking price to be out of their range.

Spurs Web Opinion

As the financial impact of the coronavirus shutdown becomes clear, more clubs will be reassessing their targets and try to go for cheaper alternatives. Player prices are also likely to drop as the window proceeds and for this reason, I believe a lot of opportunities will open up towards the end of the transfer window.
