Report: Club reach agreement with Spurs player over summer transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have a huge Champions League final to prepare for, so it is extremely unlikely to see any official transfer business conducted over the next two weeks.

However, a report out of Italy has now claimed that Napoli and Kieran Trippier’s representatives have come to an agreement over terms that could see the player transfer in the summer (Il Mattino).

The report adds that no contact has yet been made between Napoli and Tottenham though.

The rumours linking Tripps to a Napoli move have been around for some time now, as the England man has endured a below-par season at right back in North London (Sun).

It is also said that Tottenham want around £40m for the defender, if he is to leave this summer (Sun).

The season in Italy hasn’t actually concluded yet, so this particular deal, if accurate, could be one that we see a little later in the transfer window.

This would leave Tottenham with just Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters at right back, implying that Spurs would invest in a new player in that position.

Should Spurs sell Trippier?

Spurs Web Opinion:

I am still a firm believer that I would rather sell Aurier and keep Trippier. I think Trippier offers a potent weapon in a back five with his crossing abilities, especially when he has less defensive duties. Tripps also counts as a homegrown player, something Spurs are lacking at the moment. Either way, I don’t think either of these players should be first choice next season, and I would bid early for Aaron Wan-Bissaka if I were Tottenham.
