Report: Club ready to let Tottenham-linked attacker leave in January

According to a report in L’Equipe (as relayed by Sport Witness), rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Marcus Thuram could leave Borussia Monchengladbach during the January transfer window.

Thuram has matured into a top talent at Gladbach, having joined the side from Guingamp back in the summer of 2019.

However, the French international has not been in the best of form this campaign, having not found the back of the net in any competition for Adi Hutter’s side.

It was previously reported that the wide man, who can play on either flank as well as upfront, was seen as a ‘priority target’ by Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici.

Mohamed Bouhafsi even claimed a couple of months ago that Spurs were in talks with the 24-year-old about a move to North London.

Inter Milan have also been credited with an interest in the Gladbach star, with the Serie A club alleged to have held discussions with the player’s agent, Mino Raiola.

L’Equipe have now revealed that a January exit is on the cards for Thuram, with Gladbach ‘ready’ to let him go. The report claims that the winger could be available for a cut-price fee of just €15m (£12.7m).

In addition, it is explained that Thuram himself seeks a move away from Borussia Park in order to give himself the best chances of making the Les Blues squad for the 2022 World Cup.

One would expect plenty of clubs to line up for Thuram if the winger is indeed available for around £13m. The Frenchman is the sort of versatile forward who could prove extremely useful in Conte’s system. If we are to let Bergwijn leave, we could do a lot worse than replacing the Dutchman with the Gladbach star.
