Report: Club ready to open talks with Spurs over loan extension for midfielder

According to a report by Cadena SER, Valencia are ready to open talks with Tottenham over extending Bryan Gil’s loan deal at the Mestalla.

Gil completed a loan move to Valencia on transfer deadline day, just six months on from his move from Sevilla to Spurs in the summer.

The 20-year-old has had an impressive start to his time with Los Che, showing why he was rated as one of the most promising young talents in Spain when Spurs signed him in the summer.

The Evening Standard reported earlier this month that Tottenham are still hopeful that Gil has a future in North London and expect him to return to the club at the end of his loan spell in the summer.

However, Cadena SER claimed that Valencia have been so impressed by the Spain international that they are looking to keep him at the club beyond the end of the season.

It is said that while there is acceptance at the La Liga club that it would not be possible to sign Gil permanently, they are ready to open talks with Spurs over a 12-month extension to the player’s loan deal.

The report describes such a deal as a ‘win-win operation’ since Jose Bordalas gets the player he wants for an additional season while Spurs would see the player’s value appreciating due to regular game time.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would not mind Gil being loaned out again next season if Conte does not feel the youngster is ready to be an important part of his set-up. However, I would prefer the 20-year-old to be loaned to a Premier League club rather than back to Valencia so that he can get used to the demands of English football.
