Report: Club regret beating likes of Tottenham to ‘immature’ summer signing

RB Leipzig reportedly regret beating the likes of Tottenham to the signing of Ilaix Moriba and want to sell him this summer having grown tired of his ‘immature’ attitude, according to BILD.

Moriba joined Leipzig from Barcelona at the start of the season for an initial £13.4 million, which would rise by another £5 million if specific achievements were met (GOAL).

However, the 19-year-old has struggled to make an impact with the German outfit and BILD are now reporting he could already be heading towards the exit door at the end of term.

The report states Leipzig are fed up with Moriba’s attitude and lack of adequate commitment and now deem the young midfielder surplus to requirements and will look to shift him on at the earliest opportunity.

It also spells relief to Tottenham, who were also reportedly one of the leading sides interested in signing him on a permanent deal last summer (Independent).

Moriba made just six appearances for Leipzig this season (Transfermarkt) before being shipped out on loan to Valencia during the January transfer window.

This seems like a big bullet dodged for Tottenham, who were very keen on acquiring him during the summer.

The fact that Leipzig are already looking to cash in on him and lose him triggers plenty of alarm bells, so this potentially saved Spurs a lot of headaches down the line.
