Palmeras co-ordinator, Joao Paulo Sampai has said that the club will not be letting rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Gabriel Menino leave this summer for less than £20m.

Menino has impressed since breaking into the Palmeras team last season and played a key role in the club’s Copa Libertadores triumph, with sources indicating that Spurs are eyeing a move for the youngster.

The central midfielder, who is technically gifted on the ball while also possessing a fantastic engine, has even demonstrated that he can do a competent job as a right-back over recent months.

Central midfield is one of the areas that Tottenham are said to be keen on strengthening in the summer while the North London club could also be in the market for a right-back, with Serge Aurier’s and Matt Doherty’s futures at Spurs looking uncertain.

Signing Menino could thus potentially help Tottenham address both areas at once but Sampai has now insisted that Palmeras will not allow the 20-year-old to leave unless their asking price is met.

He is quoted by UOL Esporte as saying (as relayed by HITC): “Gabriel Menino? He doesn’t leave for less than 20 million.”
