Report: Club said to be furious at Tottenham for transfer antics

According to a report in the Guardian, PSV Eindhoven are furious with the way Spurs are handling the transfer of Steven Bergwijn.

Reports from Holland on Sunday claimed that Tottenham were on the verge of completing the deal to sign Bergwijn as the 22-year-old missed the game against FC Twente (Daily Mail).

PSV manager Ernest Faber confirmed that the Dutch international had gone to London to finalise a transfer to Tottenham (Fox Sports).

However, a report in the Guardian claims that the Eredivisie club are far from happy with the conduct of both Bergwijn and Tottenham during the saga.

They claim that Spurs have made an offer of £25.3m for the 22-year-old but it is suggested that PSV have not accepted the offer.

While the Lilywhites are backed to complete the deal, it is suggested that the Eredivisie club aren’t happy that the player has travelled to London without a fee being agreed.

It is asserted that PSV tried to block Bergwijn from travelling to London, only for him to ignore the advice and travel regardless.

The pacey forward, however, has posted a message on Instagram denying that he had disobeyed PSV’s wishes.

Spurs Web Opinion

A lot of contradictory reports seem to be coming out regarding this transfer which is unsurprising given how quickly the deal has seemingly moved. If we can get Bergwijn signed, then it will be a fantastic coup for Spurs as I believe his value will likely double or triple in the coming year or two.
