Report: Club set to make improved contract offer to rumoured Spurs target

According to Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by MilanLive), AC Milan are set to make an improved contract offer to rumoured Tottenham target, Franck Kessie.

Kessie’s current deal runs out at the end of the season and reports have indicated that the Milan star is one of the players Antonio Conte wants Tottenham to bring in.

90min claimed that despite facing plenty of competition for the 24-year-old, Spurs believe that Conte’s arrival could help them clinch the deal for the midfielder.

However, Corriere have now explained that Milan have not given up hope of tying the Ivory Coast international to a new contract despite the negotiations proving to be complicated.

It is revealed that the Rossoneri are prepared to raise their offer from €5m (£4.2m) per season to €6.5m (£5.5) per season to convince the midfielder to sign on the dotted line.

However, Kessie’s entourage are thought to be holding out for a contract worth around €8.5m (£7.2) a year, a figure that Milan are not said to be in a position to meet.

The report adds that Tottenham’s and Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the 24-year-old makes the Serie A club’s negotiations even more complicated.

One would have thought that Kessie would have signed a new deal by now if his intention was just to play hardball with Milan to get a big salary. Given that he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement from January, Paratici should be all over this deal.
