Report: Club set to offer forward a new contract amid Tottenham interest

Football Insider have claimed that Brighton are set to offer Evan Ferguson a new contract to put the starlet out of reach of the likes of Tottenham.

There is plenty of excitement around Ferguson at the Amex Stadium, with the teenager seamlessly making the transition to the first team when he has been handed opportunities this season.

The 18-year-old has found the back of the net seven times for the Seagulls in 16 appearances this season (Transfermarkt) and he opened his account for the Republic of Ireland in their 3-2 win over Latvia during the international break.

The Sun reported back in February that Spurs are interested in Ferguson and believe that the striker can follow in Harry Kane’s footsteps.

Football Insider have now claimed that it is not only the Lilywhites who have their eye on the striker sensation but also Chelsea and Manchester United.

The report adds that Brighton are now set to offer the youngster a new deal to ward off the interest from the aforementioned clubs.

It is alleged that the Seagulls are confident of hanging on to Ferguson as the Republic of Ireland international is believed to be happy at the South Coast.

Spurs Web Opinion

There really is no reason for Ferguson to leave Brighton this summer, given that he is getting first-team opportunities at the club, which might not be the case for the teenager at Spurs, Chelsea or Man Utd.

He would probably want to stick around at the Amex for another year or two before thinking of a big move.
