Report: Club trying to sign replacement amidst Spurs approach for midfielder

According to Corriere dello Sport, Cagliari are now stepping up efforts to sign a replacement for Nahitan Nandez, amidst Tottenham Hotspur’s rumoured approach for the midfielder.

The North London club are reportedly readying a €10m (£8.5m) loan offer for Nandez, with an obligation to purchase him for a further €20m (£17m).

The midfielder, who has a release clause of £30m in his contract, is alleged to have handed in a transfer request.

Nandez is thought to be keen on completing a move to Spurs, with Fabio Paratici said to believe the Uruguay international can add more flexibility to Nuno Espirito Santo’s midfield.

If Corriere dello Sport’s latest update is to be believed, it appears that Cagliari are preparing for the 25-year-old to depart within the next two weeks.

The report reveals that the Serie A club are attempting to speed up negotiations for Nacional Montevideo midfielder Emiliano Martinez, who they view as a potential replacement for Nandez.

Cagliari are also alleged to be showing interest in signing AC Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega on a loan deal.

It would appear as if Tottenham’s pursuit of Nandez is proceeding fairly quickly. That could well be a sign that Spurs have found potential buyers for one of (if not both) Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks.
