The Telegraph reveal that Al-Nassr have now accepted defeat in their pursuit of Tottenham right-back Emerson Royal and have now turned their attention to other alternatives.
Although Emerson has fallen behind Pedro Porro in the pecking order for the right-back spot, the Brazilian has demonstrated his value to Ange Postecoglou over the last few months by filling in competently at centre-back as well as left-back.
It thus came as no surprise when it emerged over the weekend that Al-Nassr’s offer of €25m (£21.4m) for the former Real Betis star was turned down by Tottenham, who allegedly considered the bid to be ‘derisory’ (The Standard).
Some sources over the last couple of days have suggested that the Saudi Pro League side could return with a second offer of around €35m (£30m) to test Spurs’ resolve (Premier League Brasil via Sport Witness).

Al-Nassr accept defeat after Spurs reject Emerson Royal bid
However, The Telegraph have revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s team have now given up on the Tottenham man and have turned their attention elsewhere.
After seeing their offer sent back by Spurs, Al-Nassr are now allegedly working on a bid for Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka instead.

Tottenham may be more receptive to an offer for Emerson next summer as they look to further tweak their squad but the club were never going to lose such an important squad player mid-season unless they received an offer that was too good to refuse.
