Report: Club want £26m offer to even begin negotiating with Spurs over midfielder

According to a report by Italian newspaper La Nazione (as relayed by Labaro Viola), Tottenham are locked in a battle with two European giants for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Amrabat has been one of the most consistent midfield pivots in the Serie A over the last three years and his reputation grew even further due to his brilliant displays for Morocco in last year’s World Cup.

We covered a report from Foot Mercato last week, which claimed that Tottenham were eyeing a move for the 26-year-old but the player’s preference was to move to Barcelona this summer.

La Nazione have now also backed up that claim, stating the Nou Camp would be Amarabt’s preferred destination but the outlet suggests that the Catalan giants are ‘unlikely to enter the auction’ for the midfielder.

Spurs face competition for Amrabat

The publication reveals that Tottenham’s main competition for the Moroccan international could come from Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, who along with the North London club, have been in touch with the player’s entourage.

The report adds that although Amarabat has ‘hinted’ that he wants to leave the Artemio Franchi Stadium this summer, Fiorentina will not enter the negotiation table unless they receive an offer of around €30m (£25.6m).

Spurs Web Opinion

Amrabat was evidently a Fabio Paratici target and I believe the club’s central midfield targets would have changed following Ange Postecoglou’s arrival, with the Australian likely to look for pivots who are willing to take risks in possession and receive the ball in tight areas.
