Report: Club want Spurs to pay ‘at least £21m’ for centre-back this summer

The print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) have said that we can expect a bidding war between Tottenham and Juventus for Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori this summer.

Spurs Web has relayed a number of reports over the last few weeks suggesting that both Spurs and Juve are big admires of Calafiori, who has had an outstanding start to his Serie A career after his switch from Basel last summer.

Earlier this week, Fabrizio Romano told GiveMeSport that the Lilywhites might not find it easy to sign the Italian defender after the Bianconeri made him their number-one transfer target ahead of the summer.

Just a couple of days ago, Tuttosport suggested that the Old Lady might have an advantage over Spurs in the race for the 21-year-old as the youngster would prefer to remain in Serie A.

Tottenham will have to pay £21m for Calafiori

Gazzetta dello Sport have now become the latest outlet to report on Calafiori’s future, stating that both Juve and Spurs have already sought information about the centre-back.

It is pointed out that with the defender’s contract running until 2027, Bologna hope to make ‘at least €25m’ (£21.4m) from his sale.

The publication adds that with the Premier League side and the Turin club both keen, there could be ‘an auction’ for Calafiori over the coming weeks.

Spurs Web Opinion

If there is a direct bidding war between Spurs and Juve for Calafiori, there is no doubt that we would come out on top. However, the centre-back could be leaning towards a move to Turin and might not be keen to make the jump abroad at this stage of his career.
