Report: Club want to do business with Spurs early in the summer transfer window

Manchester United are prioritising a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and will look to bid quickly for the player in order to ‘smooth negotiations’ with the North London side.

Harry Kane has enjoyed yet another brilliant campaign from a personal perspective, scoring 30 goals in all competitions for Tottenham (Transfermarkt).

The 29-year-old has just over a year left on his current contract with Spurs. Given this is another season without silverware for the England captain, there are murmurs that he will look to leave his boyhood club in the summer.

Kane has said he will be speaking to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy this summer to discuss how the club can move forward and achieve success (Evening Standard), which offers fans some hope he will stick around.

However, Kane has consistently been linked with a move to Manchester United (Daily Star). The club are thought to be keen to bolster their attacking options this summer.

Now, the latest from The Guardian suggests Erik ten Hag has Kane at the top of his list when it comes to signing a new striker, and Manchester United will move fast to get a deal done.

Apparently, the Red Devils plan to make a bid for Kane as “quickly as possible” in order to avoid a long transfer saga over the summer.

It is thought it will “not be easy to convince” Levy to let go of his star man and that the “tough negotiator” may be intent on keeping Kane regardless of his contract situation.

According to the report, United see Kane as the kind of player who can “transform them into title contenders” and will be looking to “test Levy’s resolve” sooner rather than later.

Despite the fact Ten Hag is “obsessed” with Kane, the club is not intending to let the negotiations dominate their summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

As much as people criticise Daniel Levy, he is actually very likely to be our best tool in keeping Kane this summer, whether the striker likes it or not.

Levy is likely to dig his heels and make life very difficult for Manchester United, and I can see them getting frustrated and moving on instead of pursuing Kane.
