Report: Club looking to instigate bidding war for rumoured Spurs target

Hellas Verona are looking to spark a bidding way for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Marash Kumbulla according to the latest reports from Italy.

Kumbulla has been one of Hellas Verona’ standout performers this season and has played a key role in their rise to eighth place in the Serie A table in their first campaign back in the Italian top flight.

The 20-year-old boasts some impressive stats this season averaging 1.8 tackles and 2.9 clearances per league game, while his pass completion rate stands at 84.2% (Whoscored).

The Albanian international’s performances this season have invited comparisons with legendary Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini (Goal).

Tottenham are said to be battling the likes of Manchester United, AC Milan and Inter Milan for the young defender’s signature (Firenze Viola).

Hellas1903 claim that the Serie A side are trying to instigate a interest in the defender.

It is reported that the club have initially placed a £17million price tag on Kumballa’s head following an approach for Inter but are hoping that his price goes up as more teams look to enter the race for the defender this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Kumulla’s stats are extremely impressive, we have seen time and again that the Premier League is a completely different proposition for defenders compared to the Serie A. The 20-year-old would be quite a risky signing to make and I expect Mourinho to want to bring in a centre-back with more experience.
