Report: Club want to make Spurs man ‘fall in love’ and return to play for them

Valencia are attempting to convince Tottenham loanee Bryan Gil to extend his stay beyond the summer, according to El Desmarque.

Gil is enjoying positive spell of form with the LaLiga side, after making his return to Spain in the January transfer window following just six months in England.

Spurs’ summer signing struggled to force his way into contention under Antonio Conte, but he has since managed to put together a string of convincing performances.

Gil was rewarded for his play by earning a call-up to the Spain U21 side for the latest international break, with one of his latest displays yielding a goal and assist in an 8-0 thrashing of Lithuania.

And with things going well for the 21-year-old, El Desmarque reports Valencia will look to strike while the iron is hot by trying to convince him to stay for a while longer.

The report states Jose Bordalas’ side will attempt to make Gil ‘fall in love’ with the club to persuade him to at least extend his current loan deal. He is currently supposed to return to Spurs at the end of this season.

Gil has yet to open his account with Valencia, but he played a role in the side earning a spot in the final of the Copa del Rey, where they will face Real Betis next month.

Gil seems to be making a very good impression on those around Valencia and the coaching staff are keen to keep him for a little longer.

Ideally, he needs to start getting more familiar with English football if Tottenham feel he has a future at the club.

However, if his development is not quite there yet, another loan back to Valencia doesn’t seem like the worst option considering he is still at a young age.
