Report: Club will not be paying £35m to sign Tottenham player this summer

TuttoMercatoWeb have revealed that Napoli have already communicated to Tottenham Hotspur that they will not be exercising the option to buy Tanguy Ndombele permanently.

Ndombele certainly played a valued part in Napoli’s march to the title, having been used as an impact substitute quite regularly by Luciano Spalletti this season.

However, TMW now point out that out of the midfielder’s 40 appearances across all competitions this season, only 12 have been starts.

They add that the level of Ndombele’s performances simply have not justified making a substantial investment to sign him at the end of the season.

The publication claim that the option to sign the 26-year-old permanently stands at €40m (£34.8m), which the Serie A champions have decided they will not be activating.

In fact, TMW add that Tottenham are aware of Napoli’s decision which is why the North London club ‘already know’ that they will see Ndombele ‘again soon’.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham would likely be willing to sell Ndombele for around £15m-£20m this summer as they will want to get him off their wage bill.

Spurs would be hoping that even if Napoli are not keen on re-signing the midfielder, other Serie A clubs would express an interest in the player this summer, given some of the performances he has delivered in the Italian top flight this season.
