Report: Club will not sell rumoured Spurs target for less than £88m in January

CalcioMercato have claimed that AC Milan will want at least €100m (£88m) for rumoured Tottenham target Rafael Leao in January.

Leao has been one of Serie A’s most potential attackers over the last 18 months, with the forward having 16 goal contributions to his name so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Reports over recent months have indicated that Spurs are one of the clubs who are monitoring the Portugal international ahead of the January transfer window (Calciomercato.it).

90 min reported last month that Milan were ready to make the 23-year-old the highest-paid player in Serie A in an effort to get him to commit his future to the club.

However, CalcioMercato have now claimed that the Rossoneri have faced some ‘pitfalls’ in getting Leao to commit his future to the club.

Despite the Milan hierarchy’s desire to tie the forward down, there has reportedly been ‘no progress’ in the negotiations. As things stand, it is explained that the Serie A club are not able to meet the player’s salary demands.

CalcioMercato assert that Milan would not sell Leao for under €100m (£88m) in January and will likely reassess the situation next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Leao is an outstanding player but I do not think he would be a realistic target for Spurs. Tottenham would be better off investing the kind of money it would take to sign the Portugal international on other areas of the pitch, like centre-back and right wing-back.
