Report: Club will now ‘try to sell’ player linked with Spurs in January

Tutto Atalanta have revealed that Tottenham target Ruslan Malinovskyi is not happy with his lack of game time at Atalanta after having come ‘very close’ to leaving the club back in the summer.

Despite being heavily linked with a move to Spurs in the final month of the summer transfer window (TuttoMercatoWeb), Malinovskyi ended up staying put at Atalanta.

Fabrizio Romano revealed in the days following the end of the transfer window that both Tottenham and Marseille wanted to sign the attacking midfielder on loan with an option to buy but Atalanta president Antonio Percassi prevented the player from leaving.

Speaking to the Kyiv Cake YouTube channel last week, Malinovskyi insisted that the speculation in the summer linking him with a move away from Atalanta had no truth to it.

However, Tutto Atalanta have now claimed that the 29-year-old did indeed come ‘very close’ to joining Spurs or Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window.

The report asserts that Malinovskyi is not content with the bit-part role he has played for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side so far this season.

It is said that Atalanta will ‘try to sell the player definitively’ when the transfer window reopens in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Conte was keen on signing Malinovskyi, I suspect Spurs would have got a deal for Ukrainian done in the summer. The fact that the North London club were only exploring a loan move for the 29-year-old, suggests that Conte is perhaps not fully convinced by him.
