Report: Club are expected to offer Spurs around £30m for player this month

According to Premier League Brasil (as translated by Sport Witness), Al-Nassr are prepared to significantly increase their offer for Emerson Royal after seeing the opening bid for the right-back being knocked back.

It was The Sun’s Tom Barclay who broke the news on Sunday that Al-Nassr’s offer for Emerson had been rejected by Spurs.

The journalist added that the right-back is happy at the North London club but he suggested that the Saudi side could return with a second bid.

It was later confirmed by Ben Jacobs that the Riyadh-based club’s opening offer was worth €25m (£21.4m) and he also revealed that Tottenham had not named any price for the Brazilian to the Middle Eastern side.

Improved offer expected for Tottenham’s Emerson Royal

Premier League Brasil have now also put Al-Nassr’s opening offer at £21.4m and they saw that the club, who boast Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks, are set to return with an offer of €35m (£30m) to test Tottenham’s resolve.

The report adds that Spurs are ‘satisfied’ with the 24-year-old’s showing this season and are not keen on losing him in the middle of the campaign.

It is asserted that Emerson is also at home at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and is not expected to push for a move.

Spurs Web Opinion

£30m is a decent offer for a player who is not first-choice any longer but Tottenham simply cannot afford to lose him without bringing a replacement through the door.

Spurs might have given serious thought to the offer if it had arrived at the start of the month but with just a little over a week of the transfer window left, there is perhaps not enough time to replace the Brazilian.
