Report: Club willing to loan player to Spurs with potential permanent deal in 2024

Sport report that Barcelona are softening their stance and are now open to the idea of loaning Clement Lenglet to Tottenham for another season.

It is said that with Lenglet’s move to Saudi Arabian club, Al-Nassr, now ruled out, Barcelona are desperate to get rid of his wages and have therefore come around on the idea of a loan.

Tottenham are reportedly not willing to hand over a big transfer fee, but are happy to pay Lenglet’s wages for the 2023/24 campaign, as they did last season. Spurs would also then talk to Barcelona about a permanent transfer for next summer.

Spurs are ahead of Italian clubs in Lenglet race

There is interest in Lenglet from Serie A, but Italian clubs are apparently not able to pay his full salary, which gives Spurs the upper hand in the race.

Whatever the case, Barcelona want Lenglet gone by the end of the week as they look to make new signings of their own this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be unhappy if Tottenham signed Lenglet as the second centre-back of the summer. If he is the third summer signing, then fine, he can be Micky Van de Ven’s back-up. However, Tottenham need one more central defender chosen by Ange Postecoglou.
