Report: Club worried Spurs target’s release clause will encourage further interest

Fiorentina are concerned that Dusan Vlahovic’s €70 million release clause will not protect them amidst reported interest from Tottenham, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness).

The 21-year-old was highly sought after throughout the summer, after a successful campaign with La Viola last season. He scored 21 goals in Serie A, which thrust his name into the spotlight, with a host of clubs on the lookout for a striker.

This included the likes of Spurs, who at the time were in the process of fending off interest for Harry Kane from Manchester City.

The Citizens were also said to be keen on the Serbian, but reportedly saw their efforts fall short in the summer. However, Vivo Per Lei report Pep Guardiola’s side could return.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim the Serie A club are worried about either side returning with a fresh bid for Vlahovic, and are in the process of negotiating a new contract for the striker.

Vlahovic is contracted with Fiorentina until 2023, but the club is concerned his release clause could prompt clubs to move quickly to activate it.

Fiorentina seem keen to change or even remove Vlahovic’s reported release clause altogether by negotiating a new contract.

Kane will likely still want to leave Spurs at the end of the season, which may mean Fabio Paratici could keep tabs on Vlahovic’s situation in case.
