Report: Club would ‘seriously consider’ £43m offer from Spurs for attacker

ASRomaLive have claimed that Roma would consider a €50m (£43.2m) offer from Tottenham for Nicolo Zaniolo in January.

Zaniolo was heavily linked with a move to Spurs all through the summer transfer window (CalcioMercato) but the winger ended up staying put at the Stadio Olimpico.

Gianluca Di Marzio told Wettfreunde last week that Tottenham made a concrete effort to sign the 23-year-old in the summer but explained that the North London club were only exploring a part-exchange deal while Roma preferred a straight cash deal.

Gazzetta dello Sport (21/10/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) revealed this week that if Zaniolo does not renew his current contract, which runs out in 2024, Roma would be prepared to cash in on him for a fee of around €30m-€40 (£26.1m-£34.8m) next summer.

However, if ASRomaLive‘s latest update is to be believed, Spurs might not wait until next summer and could make a move for the Italy international in January since Antonio Conte is keen on adding attacking enforcement to his squad.

The report asserts that should Spurs be prepared to pay €50m (£43.2m) for Zaniolo in January, there is ‘little doubt that Roma will seriously consider the offer’.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do expect Spurs to bring in another attacking player in the summer and potentially loan out (or sell) Bryan Gil. We know that Paratici and Conte are both big fans of Zaniolo and the club might decide that it would be preferable to sign the 23-year-old in January rather than wait for next summer, by which time there could be a lot more competition for his signature.
