Watford Observer have revealed that former Tottenham coach Gianni Vio has now joined Watford for the rest of the season.
Vio arrived at Spurs in the summer of 2022, joining Antonio Conte’s coaching staff as the set-piece coach.
The Italian has reportedly developed over 5000 different set-piece routines (Evening Standard) and rose to fame when he worked with the Azzuri in their triumphant Euro 2020 campaign.
He certainly had the desired effect at Spurs, with the Lilywhites ranking second in the Premier League for goals scored from set-pieces in the 2022/23 campaign, with 16 goals.
Vio continued to work at Tottenham and assist Ryan Mason after Conte and later Cristian Stellini were sacked, with the Italian eventually departing the club after the arrival of Ange Postecoglou.

Watford Observer have now confirmed that the 70-year-old has joined the coaching set-up at Vicarage Road.
He will link up with Valerien Ismael’s coaching staff this season and will help aid the Hornets in their quest for promotion to the Premier League.

I am surprised that other Premier League clubs or some other big club from across Europe did not see value in hiring Vio, given the exceptional work he did at Tottenham last season.
