Report: ‘Considerable funds’ – Spurs transfer plans for January and next summer

ESPN have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to hand Antonio Conte ‘considerable funds’ to strengthen the squad.

With the January transfer window now having officially opened, Conte will have the opportunity to address some of the weaknesses he sees in the squad over the next couple of weeks.

The Spurs boss made it clear last week that there is a significant gap in quality between his squad and the best teams in the Premier League.

He also revealed that he had completed evaluating all of his players and was waiting for a meeting with the club’s hierarchy to discuss potential incomings and departures.

If ESPN are to be believed, the North London club will give Conte a significant amount of money to spend on new recruits.

However, the report explains that the majority of Tottenham’s spending is expected to be undertaken in the summer transfer window rather than this month.

Finally, it is also asserted that Dele Alli and Matt Doherty are two of several players that Spurs would be willing to cash in on if a suitable offer arrives this month.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham generally tend not to spend big money in January as players are likely to cost a premium in the middle of the season. So, the bulk of the spending will likely be done in the summer.

However, I would still expect us to be busier this month than we are most Januarys. I would be surprised if we do not make at least two new signings before the end of the month.
