Tottenham Hotspur are believed to have been offered the chance to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante (Foot Mercato), and it’s now been revealed that the Chelsea star still has a good relationship with Spurs boss Antonio Conte.

Kante has been a mainstay in the Chelsea side since joining the Blues in 2016 from Leicester City. The French midfielder has earned plaudits for his style of play through the years, but it appears his time at Chelsea may be coming to an end.

With 262 appearances over the years for Chelsea (Transfermarkt), it will feel like the end of an era for many involved with the club. For Kante however, the plan is to stay in London if and when he moves on.

With this in mind, rumours suggest Kante has been offered to both Tottenham and London rivals Arsenal (Foot Mercato), although it’s not yet known if either club is actually interested in taking Kante on.

There is, however, a pre-existing relationship between Kante and Spurs boss Antonio Conte, which could prove useful in luring him to the white half of North London.

According to L’Equipe, Kante has stayed in contact with Conte since the pair worked together at Chelsea previously.

Indeed, it was Conte who brought Kante to Stamford Bridge all those years ago. L’Equipe claim the player and his former manager have “kept a link” since Conte moved on.

If Spurs do indeed look to sign Kante on a free transfer when his deal runs out next summer, and if Conte is still at Tottenham, you’d have to imagine this could give Spurs an upper hand over Arsenal in convincing Kante to join.

He may be getting older, but N’Golo Kante is still an incredible player and could prove to be a useful acquisition for Spurs. The central midfield area at Tottenham is already pretty strong, but if a player like Kante becomes available for free, we should probably snap him up.
