Report: Conte angered by agent’s claim he has ’60 to 70 per cent’ chance of staying at Spurs

The Daily Express have revealed that Antonio Conte has distanced himself from agent Federico Pastorello’s claim that he has a ’60 to 70 per cent’ chance of remaining at Tottenham Hotspur next season.

Conte has been coy regarding his future over recent months, stating that he will have to meet with the club’s hierarchy at the end of the season to discuss their future ambitions (Football.London).

However, over the last few days, the Italian has sounded a lot more invested in the Spurs project, admitting to The Independent that he has been ‘100 per cent and more’ committed to the club from the day he walked through the door.

In an interview with Italian publication La Repubblica, Italian football agent Federico Pastorello said this week that the former Inter boss is ’60 and 70 per cent’ likely to remain at Spurs next season.

The Express have now revealed that Conte is angry that Pastorello appears to be speaking on his behalf and has distanced himself from his compatriot’s comments.

The report states the Tottenham boss has sent out signals through the club that he is in no way represented by Pastorello despite their association in the past.

Conte is said to be determined to keep his cards close to his chest ahead of discussing the club’s summer transfer budget with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

One can understand why Conte would not want to commit his future to Spurs just yet as that would weaken his bargaining position with the club’s hierarchy when discussing the funds available to spend and the transfer targets.

Conte does have a history of making big demands at every club he has been at over the course of his career. The Italian knows that Tottenham cannot afford to lose him and are thus likely to give in to his demands this summer.
