Report: Conte ‘craze’ for Zaniolo ‘can be unbearable’ as Spurs push to lower price

CalcioMercato have reported that Antonio Conte has no hesitations about signing Nicolo Zaniolo, and his ‘craze’ can be ‘unbearable’ for Spurs.

Tottenham are reportedly looking to lower the price tag for Zaniolo by offering players in exchange, while Roma’s financial needs could help things along (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Gazzetta dello Sport also claimed that several Tottenham players spoke to Nicolo Zaniolo after the pre-season friendly against AS Roma in Israel and asked the winger to join the club.

90 min reported this week that Spurs are not willing to give up on their pursuit of Zaniolo this summer while Tutto AS Roma claimed on Wednesday that the North London club were even willing to include Tanguy Ndombele and Japhet Tangagna as makeweights in a deal.

This information was backed up by Gazzetta, who stated that apart from Ndombele and Tanganga, Spurs were also willing to include Giovani Lo Celso in the operation.

The report asserted that Antonio Conte holds Zaniolo in ‘huge esteem’ and that several Spurs stars ‘invited’ the winger to ‘join them in London’ when the two teams met at Haifa.

It is explained that Roma would be willing to cash in on the Italy international if they receive an offer of around €50m (£41.8m) for the player.

Gazzetta added that meetings between Tottenham and the Giallorossi are ‘imminent’ this week and that should the two clubs not come to an agreement, Jose Mourinho’s men will prioritise extending Zaniolo’s contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Roma had no intention of selling Zaniolo, one would not expect Tottenham to waste so much time on the pursuit. So, Paratici has probably received encouragement from the Serie A club to make an offer and that the winger will likely be sold if the price is right.
