Report: Conte due to sit down with Spurs hierarchy in ‘coming days’ – January plans

According to The Telegraph’s Matt Law, Antonio Conte is set to discuss January transfer window plans with Tottenham’s hierarchy over the coming days.

For the moment, Conte will be preoccupied with fielding an eleven against Leicester City, with several of Tottenham’s players still in isolation following an outbreak of COVID-19 at the club.

However, with January just around the corner, the club will also have to plan potential incomings and outgoings in what will be the Italian’s first transfer window in North London.

Conte previously insisted that he has not discussed transfer targets with the club and that he has asked for more time to assess the current squad.

According to Law, that is expected to change over the coming days, with the Italian set to sit down with managing director of football Fabio Paratici and chairman Daniel Levy.

The journalist claimed that the trio will discuss Tottenham’s plans in the transfer window and discuss potential targets.

Now that Conte has had a month and a half to assess the players, one would expect him to have formed opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of the squad.

That was perhaps part of the reason why Spurs pulled the plug on Nuno Espirito Santo so soon and ensured that Conte has time to have a close look at the players before January.

That could also be why we have reports emerging this week that the likes of Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn are not part of Conte’s plans going forward.

If that is the case, we can expect a little more clarity regarding Tottenham’s transfer targets over the next week or two.
