Antonio Conte reportedly expected more support from Tottenham during the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs were active in the latter stages of the window but ended up missing out on intended targets Adama Traore and Luis Diaz, who were said to be on their radar (The Telegraph).
Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur arrived from Juventus on deadline day, but all of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Bryan Gil and Dele Alli sealed exits from north London.
In his press conference today, Conte claimed that while Spurs had been numerically weakened in the January window, the team was now more complete (Football London).
But a report from the Daily Mail now claims the Italian had actually expected more support from Spurs in the market last month.
It explains that although he acknowledged the budget for January would be limited, Conte believed the club would have been open to conducting more business than they eventually achieved.
New signings Bentancur and Kulusevski both featured in Tottenham’s Premier League defeats to Southampton and Wolves last week, which saw the side slip to eighth-place in the table.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham needed to address some areas of concern in January which is a tough window to do that and some feel they came up a bit short with what they achieved. The two signings could be good for what the squad needs now, but the summer window is where things should really be judged seeing as there is are bigger expectations.
