The Dutchman’s current deal at the San Siro is set to run out at the end of the season and it is suggested that the Lilywhites are exploring the possibility of signing him for a cut-price fee.

CMW state that De Vrij’s new agent Federico Pastorello is expected to hold talks with the Inter hierarchy over a contract extension over the coming days, with the Nerazzurri thought to be keen on negotiating the defender’s current €4m (£3.5m) salary down.

If an agreement is not reached, Fabio Paratici is said to be ready to pounce, with Spurs being able to offer the centre-back a much higher salary. The report adds that De Vrij would only cost €4m-€5m (£3.5m-£4.3m) in January, owing to his contract situation.

CMW assert that Spurs might also be willing to loan Davinson Sanchez to Inter as a part of the agreement, with a potential option to buy the Colombian at €15m-€18m (£13.1m-£15.7m).

Spurs Web Opinion

De Vrij has worked with Conte and understands his system well. He will add experience and a winning mentality to the dressing room. So, Spurs would be tempted to snap up the 30-year-old on a cut-price fee if he does not sign a new contract with Inter.
