Report: Conte has asked Spurs to sign another Juventus star – Not Dybala

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Antonio Conte has asked the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy to snap up Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in the summer.

Spurs raided Juve for Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski during the January transfer window and both players have shown plenty of promise since arriving in North London.

It was reported during January that Fabio Paratici had also spoken to McKennie’s representatives about a potential transfer (Football.London’s Alasdair Gold).

The USA international stayed put in Turin but he suffered a metatarsal fracture in February and is expected to be out for the rest of the campaign (Transfermarkt).

Gazzetta have now revealed that Conte has specifically requested that Paratici bring McKennie to Spurs in the summer.

The report claims that Juventus could be open to selling the 23-year-old, whose contract at the Allianz Stadium runs until 2025. Spurs are thus expected to test the Serie A giants’ resolve with an offer when the transfer window reopens.

McKennie will be a good fit for Conte’s system and we need a number eight in the summer, with Lo Celso and Ndombele seemingly not having a future at Spurs.

The only risk involved for the Tottenham hierarchy would be the USA’s international’s metatarsal fracture.

Paratici and co will want to do their due diligence on the severity of the injury and the midfielder’s timeline for recovery before pushing ahead with a move for him.
