Caliomercato.it have revealed that Inter Milan are keen on snapping up Emerson Royal but the Serie A club face a few obstacles in getting a deal for the Brazilian over the line in January.

Emerson has continued to struggle to adapt to the demands of the right wing-back role at Tottenham despite Antonio Conte previously suggesting that the 23-year-old can play in the position (Football London).

The former Real Betis man had an outing to forget in the clash against Leeds United earlier this month, with a section of the home fans even cheering when he was replaced in the second half.

Caliomercato.it have now suggested that Emerson is on Inter’s radar ahead of the January transfer window, with the Nerazzurri said to believe that the player would be open to a switch to the San Siro.

The report adds that the Serie A club face competition from Atletico Madrid for the Tottenham man but Conte has ‘vetoed’ the Brazil international’s departure until a replacement arrives in January.

CalcioMercato.it further assert that Inter themselves would have to cash in on Denzel Dumfries before pushing ahead with a move for Emerson.

Interestingly, reports in the Italian media over recent months have suggested that Dumfries is on Tottenham’s wishlist (Rudy Galetti).

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Fabio Paratici seemingly loves making swap proposals, I wonder if Spurs will consider offering Emerson plus cash for Dumfries in January. The Brazilian is likely to be the one sold if Spurs do sign a right wing-back in January as he would attract more interest than Matt Doherty.
